NRH Operating theatre to undergo upgrade

The National Referral Hospital management wishes to inform the public that the main operating theatre (OT) will undergo an upgrade for a tentative duration of 10 months.
The alternative arrangements for the OT is the former birthing unit (Green Ward) situated between the fracture clinic and the CT scan building. This alternative site “Went Live’ yesterday, 17th of February, 2025.
This OT will be used as a temporary Operating Room until the current construction work to upgrade the operating theatre is completed.
The Green Ward has two operating rooms for major cases and one minor operating room.
There will be changes to the OT schedules to ensure that the target elective cases for the year is reached.
This means that operating times will resume at 8 am and end at 9 pm each day.
Each speciality using the Operating Theatre has been allocated schedules each week to ensure that their services continue.
Emergency cases will continue at the current temporary OT.
Alternate sites for providing the subspeciality surgical services will be announced soon.
The hospital management would like to reassure the public that the hospital will thrive to ensure that the operating theatre services meet the demands of the population needing specialist services.
