OLD TWO DOLLAR NOTES PHASE OUT.
The Central Bank of Solomon Islands, CBSI, will soon announce the date at which the old two dollar notes will be taken out of circulation.
Revealing this to Unified Voice in an interview yesterday, the bank’s Public Relations Officer, Uriel Matanani said until the expected announcement, people can still use the two dollar notes for trading.
“What the Central Bank wants to advise is that soon it will announce the particular date when the old two dollar note will no longer become a legal tender for use, so at this time the advise is that date is soon to be announced but until such a time when it is made, then we’ll know the exact date to stop using the old two dollar notes”.
He adds, CBSI is encouraging the general public to return any mutilated two dollar notes to the central bank and commercial banks to be exchanged for the new two dollar coins.
