PEOPLE ADVISED TO BE CAUTIOUS IN WET WEATHER
People residing in flood- risk areas, have been advised to take precaution and observe disaster safety measures in the current rainy weather.
A government statement today says the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services has issued a heavy rain alert which is in force for all provinces in the country.
The statement says the situation was caused by a depression situated over the Solomon Islands and links to a low pressure system located to the southwest of Choiseul Island and slowly moving in a westerly direction.
It adds associated rain, which is predicted to be heavy at times is expected to affect the Solomon Islands for the next 24 to 48 hours.
People should take precautionary measures as such localized Heavy Rain may lead to flash flooding or flooding to communities living close to rivers, streams and low lying areas.
The Met Office has advised people to listen to radio messages for updates throughout the day.
