PEOPLE FIRST PARTY PLANS TO STRENGTHEN GOV’T INSTITUTIONS
The People First Party says it plans to strengthen Government institutions so public officers can be held accountable.
Party leader, Dr Jimmie Rodgers says this is part of the party’s vision for law and order in Solomon Islands.
He was speaking during the launching of the People First Party National Campaign in Honiara over the weekend.
He says Politicians in the past have interfered with the Ombudsman’s Office and the Auditor General’s office, but the People First Party intends to make them work.
“Instruments like the Ombudsman’s Office, Auditor General; we will strengthen them, review the Penal codes, put in place an Independent Commission against Corruption, it has worked in countries that have done it, and make sure that they have room to play.”
