PEOPLE WANT EMERGENCY MESSAGES THROUGH TEXTING
People from North Malaita has called on Our Telekom Communication Company to provide emergency information text messages to it’s customers during disasters.
SIBC News stringer for North Malaita in Malu’u Lensley Kwaimani reports, customers say using text messages will enable people access to disaster information faster than radio outlets during disasters.
“A North Malaita man wants the Our Telekom company to send out emergency information through text messages to its customers during times of disaster. This came after they realised that it would take sometime before people can hear emergency messages through radio outlets.”
Mr Kwaimani adds Our Telekom Company has a wide coverage than FM radio outlets to provide disaster information to the rest of the country.
He says, this will be a great life saving strategy for customers especially in times of disasters.
