PM accepts SBD2.6 million worth of Sports equipment from PRC
Prime Minister and Minister responsible for the 2023 Pacific Games, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP has accepted 2.6 million worth of sports equipment from the government of the People’s Republic of China, PRC.
The equipment was handed over by the PRC Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Li Ming this afternoon.
The equipment for the Seven Sports PRC is supporting their training in China.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government, Prime Minister Sogavare was elated that the equipment will further boost and sharpen athletes preparations as the sports event draws closer.
He expressed gratitude to the government of China for the wonderful gift.
“I am very happy to accept these sports equipment, worth more than USD320,000 or approximately SBD2.6 million Solomon Island dollars, on behalf of my government. The equipment will enhance the training and development of our sports people in the seven sports that your government is supporting the training of our 80 athletes in China right now.”
He added, our 80 athletes currently undergoing training in China will use the equipment on their return to further build their abilities to compete in the Pacific Games.
Overall, the Solomon Islands- PRC bilateral relationship is fast becoming a role model in the region.
One that is based on equality, respect and tangible outcomes.
