PM & DELEGATION TO UN SUMMIT DEPARTED FOR NEW YORK

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Solomon Islands delegation to the United Nations General Assembly Meeting departed for New York yesterday afternoon.

A statement from the Government Communication Unit says the delegation will arrive in New York on Wednesday afternoon where the Solomon Islands Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Collin Beck and Mrs Beck will greet the Prime

Minister and Madam upon their arrival at the JFK International Airport.

The Prime Minister will address the 70th UNGA in the afternoon on Thursday 1st October at the UNGA Hall as well as the Post 2015 Summit on 27th September.

In New York, the Prime Minister will attend the address by his Holiness Pope Francis and attend receptions hosted US President Barack Obama and Mrs Obama and the welcoming reception hosted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

Deputy Prime Minister Douglas Ete will supervise the office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister and his delegation returns on 5th October.
