The High Court has ordered the Prime Minister’s legal counsel to provide further disclosures in a current defamation case against him.

Russell Islands Plantation Estate Limited (RIPEL) General Manager John Whiteside named Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo as the first defendant in a defamation lawsuit he filed in relation to a media report published in Island Sun newspaper last year.

The RIPEL General Manager is claiming comments Prime Minister Lilo made about him which was reported in the Island Sun newspaper last year, defamed his character.

The High Court made the order on Monday, this week.

Meanwhile, the High Court has also ordered the Island Sun newspaper to file its defense.

Island Sun and four of its journalists are named as the other defendants in Mr Whiteside’s defamation lawsuit.

The case will appear again before Court on September 8.
