Police to conduct high visibility operation, urge citizens to celebrate Easter meaningfully
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will be conducting high visibility police presence in the communities and are urging good citizens of Solomon Islands to celebrate Easter in a meaningful way.
“The Police will be conducting high visibility police presence in our communities and erecting checkpoints in some parts of Guadalcanal and Honiara City over the Easter period. This is to make sure people are safe and complying with the COVID-19,” Police say in a statement this afternoon.
It says, if you are planning to catch up with friends and family this weekend, or travel to your holiday destination, Police are urging you to be vigilant during this Easter season.
“Police Officers will be visible in our communities and on the roads. This is to make sure people are aware of the requirements that everyone needs to stay at their current place of residence, especially those in Honiara and part of Guadalcanal.”
Officers will be deployed to different locations in Honiara City and Guadalcanal province.
“The primary focus will be on reminding our good people of the Covid-19 safety measure and practices. This also includes drink and drive safety messages.”
Travelling to and from town is a risk of spreading Covid-19. Driving under the influence of liquor will also put you and the passengers at danger. So be careful when you are behind the wheel, the statement warned.
Police will keep educating our people and those who do not listen and comply with those measures in place; police will arrest and deal with them.
Police appeal to good citizens of this country during this Easter break to follow health measures on COVID-19 and stay safe at home.
