Pool D Teams to Determine Western Cup 2024 Quarterfinal Results

The 2024 Western Cup, currently underway at the JFK Stadium in Gizo, Western Province, has entered a crucial phase as the teams in Pool D are set to determine the quarterfinal results.

According to Western Football Association Executive Member, Lowlen Lelapitu, the match between South Ranonga and Simbo, both in Pool D, will be crucial in finalizing the quarterfinalists.

Lelapitu revealed that other pools have already completed their rounds, leaving the teams in Pool D to decide the remaining quarterfinal spots.

He added that the game between Simbo and Kolombangara will kick off tomorrow morning at 10 am.

South Ranonga, currently sitting atop Pool D with 6 points from 2 wins, will be vying to secure their place in the quarterfinals.

The second runner-up from Pool D will then compete with the winner and runner-up from Pool C.

The teams in Pool D, which include West Gizo, South Ranonga, Kolombangara, and Simbo, will determine the final results of the 2024 Western Cup quarterfinalists.

In today’s matches, West Marovo defeated North Vella 1-0, with Laio scoring the decisive goal in the 26th minute.

The second game results show that Central Roviana tops Pool B and will meet North Ranonga in the second quarter-final on Wednesday.

Gizo United, the group B runner-up, will face South Vella in the first quarterfinal on July 17th (Wednesday).

The Pool B standings reveal that Central Roviana tops the group with 7 points and will face North Ranonga in the second quarterfinal, while Gizo United, the runner-up with 5 points, will take on South Vella.

Noro eased past North Rendova 9-1 in the last match today to advance to the quarterfinals as the Group C runner-up.

The result means that North Vella finished third, followed by North Rendova at the bottom of the table.

Regarding the Pool A standings, the runner-up is North Ranonga with 2 points, while South Vella Dolphins lead the group with 4 points.

Only three teams competed in Group A, as Central Ranonga was eliminated with a total of 1 point.

 Lelapitu stated that the last game today will provide further clarity on the standings of the other two pools that will be played tomorrow.
