A medical health promotion team from Guadalcanal Province and Red Cross volunteers is currently on diarrhea awareness campaign to the Guadalcanal Plains.

SIBC’s North Guadalcanal stringer Dudley Gani reports the awareness came about due to a diarrhea outbreak North and Northeast of the plains following last month’s flash flooding.

“According to the group’s spokesman, Guadalcanal Province Health Promotion Division officer Dickson Mae, is because of a diarrhea outbreak in North and Northeast Guadalcanal following the flash floods last month. Mr Mae said most of the cases treated at the Good Samaritan hospital at Tetere are ranging from moderate and severe categories, thus arises the need for the awareness campaign. The officers demonstrated good personal hygiene practices during the awareness campaign.”

The team is currently in Northeast Guadalcanal with the awareness campaign.
