PUBLIC BUS DRIVER PAID HEFTY FINE FOR CARELESS DRIVING
A public bus driver has been fined 1-thousand-5-hundred dollars for careless driving.
The 40-year-old man had collided with the a green Mitsubishi Pajero at the Mendana Avenue in Honiara in October last year.
The collision caused damage to the Pajero’s windscreen.
Sentencing him yesterday morning, Principal Magistrate Jim Seuika says public transport drivers have extra duty to ensure the safety of their travelers.
He says traffic offences have a strict liability to everyone, especially as careless driving has been the cause of serious and minor traffic accidents.
He says this should be a message to public transport drivers to observe traffic regulations at all times.
