The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) Special Coordinator Ms Justine Braithwaite has described the current
capabilities of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) as professional and a disciplined police force.

She mentioned this in her key note address at the opening ceremony of the Banana Festival in Kirakira, Makira Ulawa Province this week.

Ms Braithwaite said RAMSI is no longer performing the front-line policing roles but it is the RSIPF that leads as guarantor of security for the nation.

She adds, RSIPF is now a very different organization than it was 12 years ago.

The RAMSI Coordinator said she has personally witnessed first-hand how RSIPF officers strive to meet community expectations despite resource constraints, challenge and dispersed geography .

The RAMSI Special Coordinator urge Solomon Islands citizens to support police officers in their duties as an integral part of the communities.
