The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force will take the helm of security operations for the 2014 National General Elections.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Juanita Matanga told RAMSI’s Talking Truth program over the weekend, the RSIPF is taking a
leading role in this year’s elections and are doing a lot of good work in preparation for the event.

The Deputy Police Commissioner says this is one main difference from the General elections in 2010.

“As we know RAMSI through PPF have taken front line policing operations, but this year the RSIPF is taking the leading role and in line with that leading role the Executive has also helped in going throughout the country in an active role in ensuring that our people understand well our laws in relation to our national elections. With that RSIPF officers have also done a lot of good work in preparing for this election.”
