REGIONAL FORESTRY INVENTORY WORKSHOP HELD AT KIRAKIRA
A Regional Forestry Inventory Workshop is currently being held in Kirakira, Makira-Ulawa province.
SIBC News’ Gina Maka’a reports from KiraKira, a consultant of UN Redd program, Chris Heiga, says the workshop aims to equip the forestry officers on how to address climate change issues.
“The workshop aims to enhance the people’s knowledge in the Pacific Islands to enable them to know how to contribute solutions to address climate change as well as improve their knowledge on how to implement national inventories. Mr. Heiga also said the workshop has developed a road map for a national forestry inventory.”
SIBC News understands a number of forestry officers from Solomon Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji , Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea are attending the workshop.
