The country’s largest social networking group Forum Solomon IslandsInternational (FSII) said it has received information that the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) is planning to haveit de-registered.

The group’s Management revealed this in a post on its Facebook wall.

It said the information has it that the Special Secretary to the Prime (SSPM) has written to the Attorney-General, seeking his opinion to de-register FSII, based on the Charitable Trusts Act (Cap.55).

The source said the Attorney-General has responded by noting that only the Registrar has the power to cancel registrations.

The SSPM in his letter to the Attorney-General cited that FSII over time has made political statements in its page against the DCCG and has been cooperating with the Office of the Leader of Opposition to defame the good work of the Government.

But in his response, the Attorney-General reiterated that the decision whether or not to cancel FSII is for the Registrar alone, based on the evidence before him.
