Opposition Leader Dr. Derek Sikua has congratulated the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and the Participating Police Force for a job well done in the successful operation of providing security for the Shaggy Performance at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara over the weekend.
A statement from the Opposition office reported Mr. Sikua as saying the success of the security operation before and after the concert shows that the RSIPF and PPF have learnt a lot from the Julian Marley Concert and the ensuing riot in the capital earlier last month, adding he congratulates them for a job well done.
The statement adds, Dr Sikua also congratulated the organizers including Heritage Park Hotel management and staff for also learning lessons from previous performances as well as the crowd that watched and enjoyed the 90 minute Shaggy Show and the crowd that was listening from the outside for their general good behavior.
The opposition leader urged the organizers to organize more public concerts and activities for residents of Honiara city to show the world that despite the many issues and problems the country faces, Solomon Islanders can still be happy and enjoy themselves in a civilized and peaceful manner just like anybody else.
