Solomon Islands athletic golden girl, Sharon Firisua has dedicated her Gold medals to her late father, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Islands National Sports Council the late David Firisua.

Ms Firisua dedicated her win last night after winning her second gold medal in the 10,000 metres race at the Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby.

SIBC’s Bart Basia reports.

“She dedicated her win to her dad former Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Islands National Sports Council the late David Firisua.”

However the 22 year old flying girl describes her second win as a national record for Solomon Islands, and thank all Solomon Islanders for their support during her race.

“It’s a new record for me and for the Solomon Islands. Thank you all Solomon Islanders for supporting this race.”

SIBC Sports understands Ms Firisua’s last race will be in the half marathon race this Saturday.
