SOLOMON ISLANDS AND INDONESIA AGREED TO DEEPEN TIES

Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo on Tuesday met with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono during which both leaders agreed to deepen the cooperation between the two countries.

The Indonesian leader also took the opportunity to congratulate Prime Minister Lilo and his Government on the opening of the country’s newest mission in Jakarta.

Prime Minister opened Solomon Islands embassy in Jakarta on Tuesday, soon after meeting President Yudhoyono.

It has also been confirmed to Prime Minister Lilo in Jakarta that ten Solomon Islanders have been awarded scholarships to study in various universities across Indonesia.

Mr Lilo said he was very pleased with Indonesia’s support and he hoped that both countries would further deepen their engagements in other areas in addition to education.
