SOLOMON’s EITI STATUS VALIDATED
A two-member team from the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) International has completed a validation process of the country’s status under the transparency initiative.
Solomon Islands joined the EITI in 2012 through a Cabinet paper.
EITI is a global Standard to promote the open and accountable management of natural resources.
It seeks to address the key governance issues of the oil, gas and mining sectors of its member countries.
The Solomon Islands EITI Secretariat said a validation report will be made available for further comments when the visiting team completes the first draft towards the end of this month.
It says those wishing to submit their comments can do so before a final report will be submitted to the EITI International Board for its decision on the country’s status under the EITI.
