Solomon Islands remains Australia’s top priority in International development.

Australian High Commissioner Andrew Byrne made the statement during the seventh Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum yesterday.

Commissioner Byrne said the Australian Government is working with the Democratic Coalition for Change Government to tackle various growth and expanding economic opportunities for the people, business and communities.

He said the Australian High Commission is working very hard to deliver its economic diplomacy agenda adding Solomon Islands remains Australia’s top priority on International development.

“My team at the Australian High Commission are working very hard to deliver this economic diplomacy agenda in close partnership with the Solomon Islands Government in business. The Australian government’s recent federal budget also sends a clear signal that in terms of international development Solomon Islands remains one of Australia’s top priorities.”

The Australian High Commissioner also stated Australia’s bilateral development assistance for Solomon Islands remains unchanged at AUD$92.7 million.
