The ‘Special Weather Advice’ is still current for all provinces, says the National Emergency Opertions Centre (NEOC).

NEOC said, this is due to a trough located over the country, linked to Tropical Cyclone Uesi, located west of Vanuatu and moving further away from Solomon Islands.

But the Operations Centre said, winds of 20 to 25 knots, increasing to 30 knots are expected at times as well as moderate to rough seas and moderate swells.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are also expected over all provinces in the country, it adds.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service, Lloyd Tahani says, it is always important that people take precautionary measures at this time.

He adds, people living close to large rivers and streams and low-lying areas should also take precautionary measures as bad weather associated with the system may endanger lives and properties.
