Tausinga pledge $1Million to Helena Goldie Hospital; calls on other Western MPs to assist
MEMBER of Parliament for West New Georgia Vonavona Hon Silas Tausinga has pledged $1 Million for a new outpatient ward at Helena Goldie Hospital in Western province.
Speaking during his vote of thanks in response to the Speech from the Throne in Parliament today, the Opposition MP said the $1 Million would be from the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to replace the old outpatient building at Helena Goldie Hospital.
He said his constituency office team has already met with the ministry of health & medical services to spearhead the design of the new outpatient.
“I understand an MoU on that project is currently being worked on by the ministry. It would be noble if the ministry prioritise and move forward with all the necessary paper work quickly,” the West New Georgia Vonavona MP highlighted in Parliament today.
Hon. Tausinga also appealed to his colleague MPs from North New Georgia, South New Georgia, Gizo/Kolombangara and Marovo constituencies to assist in one way or the other with the new outpatient at Helena Goldie Hospital.
He said the Helena Goldie Hospital also provide health services to hundreds of people from these constituencies.
“We cannot wait for the Government to do everything for us. Sometimes we need to work together and take the responsibility to help our own people when it matters,” he said.
Hon Tausinga said this is the kind of approach leaders need to embrace and that is MPs working together through our constituencies for the betterment of our people.
“Not only for the western province but all other constituencies if I may add,” he said.
