TDP TO HOLD PRE-HEARING FOR WUSI & SOLOMON WATER CASE
The Trade Dispute Panel (TDP) will hold a pre-hearing for the case between the Workers Union of Solomon Islands (WUSI) and Solomon Water Wednesday this week.
The case was referred to the Panel after the majority of Solomon Water employees voted to go on strike in September this year.
The strike was endorsed over the reluctance of the Water Authority’s management to consider WUSI’s application to represent the employees in matters relating to their terms of conditions and employment.
Meanwhile, the Panel has scheduled the case between WUSI and the Solomon Islands Ports Authority for 18 November.
The case was filed before the Panel after the Ports Chief Executive Officer Colin Yow terminated 16 employees, saying they have breached the company’s Act.
The employees have still not returned to work.
