‘There’s a point we will need Red Cross’ says Manuri
The Solomon Islands Red Cross Society calls on the general public to respect their vehicles as they are providing much-needed services to communities during the current lockdown.
Red Cross General Secretary, Clement Manuri made the call after one of their buses was partly damaged following a rock-throwing incident when carrying out its mandated services last night.
“We were saddened by the stoning of our bus and innocent volunteers last night along the Tuvaruhu road. The stone crashed through the back seat window. Our female volunteer sustained minor injuries.”
He says the Society is doing its work on a voluntary basis and so needs the support of the wider community.
“We need to respect the red cross emblem. we might not know, there’s a point we will need the Red Cross, at some point in our lives.”
The bus belongs to the Red Cross Special Development Centre for children with special needs.
