THIRD DICTIONARY WORKSHOP FOR BAHOMEA
Bahomea community in Guadalcanal is preparing to participate in a dictionary development workshop next week.
The 10-day workshop begins at Vuramali village next Monday.
The dictionary task is part of a Bible translation program that has started in the Central Guadalcanal area.
This is the third workshop for the language – the first was held in Belaha in February 2014, and a second at Tetere in June 2014.
The goal is to have these workshops contribute words to a local language dictionary.
This dictionary will serve the Bible translation work in the future, as well as give the community a sense of pride in their mother tongue.
Participants will represent the SSEC and other churches in the language area, and include older and younger, and male and female members.
A press statement from the Solomon Islands Translation Advisory Group says they hope to gather a large collection of words in the ten-day workshop.
