TRIAL BEGUN FOR WOMAN ACCUSED OF FALSE PRETENCE
A trial has begun this week at the Magistrates Court for a woman accused of obtaining a sum of more than $44,000 by false pretence.
Cathy Roy was charged with one count of conversion and five counts of false pretence.
She allegedly obtained more than $44,600 from a Mr Peter Zheng, the Managing Director of Far East Enterprise Limited between June and July 2014, while acting as a proxy for Mr Zheng to make payments to Tower Insurance Company.
Police Prosecution alleged the defendant never made any payments to the Insurance company because the cheques were dishonoured.
The first witness was called to give testimony yesterday.
The trial continues today.
