The Central Islands Provincial Premier Hon. George Selwyn Mapuli has called on the responsible authorities to immediately post a qualified medical doctor to Tulagi Hospital.

“For the attention of responsible officers from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in consultation with their counterparts to immediately post one qualified medical doctor to man the Tulagi hospital.”

Hon Mapuli told SIBC News, the Hospital has operated without a doctor for nearly a year.

He adds, the last medical doctor who served in the hospital has been suspended last year and until now, the hospital has been operating without a medical doctor.

“The last person to serve as the Hospital Director was Dr. John Paulsen but was unfortunately suspended from work by the Public Service Commission through the reports sent to the Ministry of Health by some prominent officers from the Tulagi hospital probably on their personal differences with Dr. Paulsen.”

Premier Mapuli said the current Acting Director is a Dentist and has done little on the medical needs of the hospital.
