URGENT NEED TO FAST CAPITALIZE GLOBAL CLIMATE FUND: DR MATAKI
The Permanent Secretary responsible for Climate Change, Dr Melchior Mataki says there is an urgent need to look at fast capitalization of the Global Climate Fund.
Dr Mataki made the statement when he launched the Community Resilience to Climate and Disaster Risks in the Solomon Islands Project yesterday.
He also said Solomon Islands is a party to the Global Climate Fund.
“These are things which the Solomon Islands is a party to at the international level and I call for that to be done and to increase the financial flows for adaptation and risk reductions to developing countries such as the Solomon Islands. This also calls for innovative processes to accessing these funds to ensure that they are not cumbersome and overburdened with layers of administrative requirements which often at times can be very very frustrating.”
