The quarter-final lineup of the 2024 West Cup Championship has been finalized.

In the first quarter-final, the South Vella Dolphins will play against the host Gizo United at JFK Stadium in Gizo at 9:30 am today.

Captained by Benjamine Kumio and coached by Sam Lelapitu, the Dolphins are confident for a positive result.

The second quarter-final will be played between Central Roviana, the winner of Pool B, and North Ranonga, the runner-up of Pool A, at the same venue at 11:00 am.

The third quarter-final will see West Marovo, who topped Pool C, play against South Rannonga, the runner-up of Pool D, at 1:30 pm.

The fourth quarter-final match is scheduled for 3 pm between Noro Town, the runner-up of Pool C, and group D leaders West Gizo.

Noro Town staged a remarkable comeback against North Rendova to reach the 2024 Western Cup Championship quarter-finals. Noro scored 9 unanswered goals, including a strike from Campion Wairu in the 68th minute, to win 9-1 and advance.

In yesterday’s results, Simbo beat Kolombangara 1-0 to finish third in Group D, but both teams were eliminated.

The second game saw West Gizo beat South Rannogga 1-0 to top Group D. Both teams qualified for the quarter-finals.

According to Western Football Association (WFA) official Loulen Lelapitu, “Today, we will have matches that will allow us to prove ourselves, especially for all the teams that will compete for the semi-finals on Tomorrow.”

Lelapitu expressed pride in the accomplishments of the teams and thanked the teams that couldn’t make it through to the quarter-finals, encouraging them to come back stronger on their next return.

Fifteen teams participated in the current Western Cup 2024 tournament, with eight teams advancing to the quarter-finals.

Only four best teams will qualify for the semi-finals, setting up the final two teams for the grand finals. Lelapitu said the results will determine the next fixture for the semi-finals.
