A young woman accused of killing her newborn born baby in Temotu Province last year appeared this morning before the Magistrate Court.

Her appearance was for the prosecution to confirm if the murder charge against her has been substituted with an infanticide charge.

The defence had earlier requested this change.

But Prosecutor Ishmael Kekou could not confirm the charge and an adjournment.

The case will appear again before the Magistrate Court tomorrow.

The young woman is accused of killing her baby on the 28th of March last year at a village off north of Santa Cruz.

The prosecution alleged the baby was found dead in bed with bruises on the neck and face.
