Young mother arrested for concealing baby

Guadalcanal Police have arrested an 18 years old girl for concealing her infant baby at Henderson in Central Guadalcanal on Sunday.

Police say the baby was taken to the national referral hospital but was later declared dead.

The Mother has so far been arrested and placed in custody for further investigations.

Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commander Mr Nixon Manetoga  called on communities, families and church leaders to work together with the police in preventing similar incident ever happening in the future.

SIBC understands  a similar incident occurred in the GGPOL 2 area last week, where a mother is still under investigations after her baby’s body was found opposite a clinic in the area.
